The paper discusses the reorganization of
Occupational Health Services in Saudi Aramco to reemphasize
prevention and proaction. Dedicated teams
will work with individual business lines to provide
specific services such as preplacement, fitness-for-duty,
and impairment assessment for disability evaluations.
The interface will also be the point of contact and
entry for other subdivisions, including Public Health
and Health Promotion.

Qualified at Aberdeen University later obtaining a Masters in Occupational Medicine from London University. He became a Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM) in 1988. His much varied career has included ship’s medical officer on board the RRS Bransfield and Medical Adviser with the British Antarctic Survey at their southernmost station Halley Bay; Mobil Oil Indonesia during a major gas blow out in 1980; hyperbaric medical officer for North Sea diving emergencies 1979-82; Lt Col in Royal Army Medical Corps until 1993; Medical Director of RGIT Ltd Aberdeen until 1999: consultant to Durham County Council; regional director BMI Health Services with lead physician roles for Inland Revenue, London Fire Brigade and a number of Police Forces until 2007. Joined Saudi Aramco 2007, promoted to Head of Occupational Medicine 2008 and to Chief of Preventive Medicine Services Division 2009.
