Healthy Human Capital as a Business Strategy: The Saudi Aramco Wellness Program (SAWP) By Paul Burgess Session# 8 Monday February 22, 2010
15:30 - 16:10
Healthy human capital is a critical success factor
for any company in the business of sustainable
exploration and production of oil and gas. The
workplace is an ideal setting to address health and
well-being. Since 2005, the Saudi Aramco Wellness
Program (SAWP) consists of a workplace wellness
(healthy employees) program and community
wellness (healthy family) program. Most of the costly
chronic health conditions seen across the Saudi
Aramco population are due to lifestyle factors, and
therefore are directly preventable. These programs
are developed, implemented, and evaluated by the
Wellness Program Group (SAMSO).
Presenter – Paul Burgess
Throughout my life I have always strived to live the healthy lifestyle and am incredibly passionate about being physically active and living life to the full. My background is from the commercial health and fitness industry and I have worked as a trainer, operator, manager, motivator, master instructor and consultant for the last 20 years!
I joined the Workplace Wellness Team as a Preventive Medicine Advisor in April 2008 and have not looked back. Developing the Workplace Wellness Program to improve the health and wellbeing of Saudi Aramco’s employees and families is a challenge that I relish and we are making some great progress.
We have a great team at Preventive Medicine Services Division working towards helping our workforce to ‘Be Well” and the future looks bright!
We hope that you will join us on our Journey to sustaining wellness…………………
