A CLIENT, like many organizations world-wide, is increasing its reliance on contractor personnel. Along with the benefits of this arrangement come the concerns and costs associated with contractor safety. Because the client-contractor relationship poses unique safety management challenges, even companies with the best safety performance may need assistance from an expert third party.
This will address A Client’s specific contractor safety management challenges. A DSS consultant will conduct the seminar with those A CLIENT management and supervisory staff who are directly involved in contractor management. The session will consist of a number of interactive learning modules after which the DSS consultant will be available to answer questions and assist the participants in developing an action plan.
The Contractor Safety Management Seminar is designed as an interactive learning experience for senior management, including representatives from the company’s legal, operations, sourcing, purchasing, and risk management organizations.
The primary objective of the Contractor Safety Management Seminar is to help senior Management develop a better understanding of the need for, and value of, implementing a strong, effective, and ongoing contractor safety management effort throughout A CLIENT.
The seminar will instill in senior management the motivation needed to accomplish this task as well as key process tools. In the experience of DuPont, the commitment, leadership, and drive of senior management personnel significantly determine the success of the contractor safety effort.
The seminar content is modeled on contractor management systems that have enabled the DuPont Company to maintain a strong contractor safety leadership position for decades.
Using interactive presentation techniques, the consultants will discuss the executive role in contractor safety management, including:
- Establishing the business value for contractor safety
- Selecting safe contractors
- Preparing and awarding the contract
- Orienting and training the contractor
- Auditing and monitoring the contractor
- Reviewing contractor performance
- Developing a strategy for contractor performance
