Emergency Response & Crisis Management Plan

Introduction

This 5-Day course is designed for all Emergency Response Team members and line management that need to understand emergency management and the need for understanding the planning, implementation and evaluation mechanisms including that for disaster recovery, and the strategies required.

Target Audience

Safety specialists, production administrators, maintenance technicians, and human resources, operations, or safety management personnel. The Certificate is a great introduction for anyone with safety responsibilities and an excellent review course for those with more experience.

Workshop Objectives

 

  • Fully understand the requirements, documentation and responsibilities for an emergency preparedness programme.
  • Understand the risk identification and assessment methodology including, natural, manmade and political.
  • Understand the responsibilities of each party involved in crisis or emergency and recovery management.
  • Appreciate the special requirements for lines of communications, means of escape and access, emergency power, communications, publicity and organizational control systems and procedures.
  • Understand the need for and activities of the Incident control team and emergency operations center.
  • Appreciate the requirements for emergency response training and refresher training with different exercises.
  • Be better able to complete mock drills in their department.
  • Be able to recognize the necessity to keep preparedness equipment in good operating condition.
  • Be aware of mutual aid availability, agreements and limitations.

All attendees will receive a copy of the Safety Projects International Inc. Disaster and Emergency response manual complete with a comprehensive management disaster response audit system.

Workshop Description

Dr. William Pomfret
Dr. Pomfret is a best-selling author, speaker and dynamic presenter, who has traveled the world educating and motivating management and employees to adopt effective health, safety and risk control policies; practices and procedures that prevent or mitigate human, economic and environmental losses from adverse occupational exposures. Bill has developed and implemented many Occupational Health Safety and Environmental models and was a visiting Professor who has taught safety practices and procedures at McGill University as well as many other universities around the world. He has been in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental system development-consulting and auditing field for over forty years. Dr. Pomfret designed and developed the International 5 Star Health and Safety Management System™ in 1978; later he produced Industry specific modules for construction, marine, aviation, oil and gas and mining, and he has conducted more OH&S audits than anyone in the world, having audited in over 40 countries. He started his career with Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and then spent many years in the offshore oil industry where he received his doctorate in education and his masters in occupational safety and health while a native of the U.K. from Aston University Bill is actively involved in presenting “Train The Trainer” programs on any specific Occupational Health, Safety or Loss Control subject or standard for many of the world’s Fortune 500 companies and for many other clients around the globe, and has a personal interest in the development of, and practical training in, Emergency Response & Crisis Management Planning Bill is a fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (UK) a certified seminar leader in the U.S.A. and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health (UK), in addition to being certified in Canada, the USA, India, and South Africa and is a Registered Safety Professional in his native Britain. He has been a keynote speaker at most International conferences in North America, U.K. Australasia, South Africa and the middle and far east and is considered by many to be one of the world’s most innovative and dynamic professionals, willing to share what he has learnt over almost a half century.
