What does the course cover?

 

As well as covering a range of workplace hazards and methods of control, it includes international standards for safety and health management including International Labour Organisation codes of practice.

 

How is the course assessed?

 

Candidates are assessed with written examinations for each of the two taught units. The qualification also features a practical workplace assessment to help you apply your learning at work and add value for your employer.

 

Are you already one step closer towards your next NEBOSH Certificate?

 

Management of International health and safety unit (IGC1) is common to the following qualifications:

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate
  • NEBOSH International Construction Certificate
  • NEBOSH International Fire Certificate

 

If you study another qualification listed within 5 years of passing this unit, you will not need to re-sit it. Once you have achieved the NEBOSH International General Certificate, you are only one unit away from achieving the NEBOSH National General Certificate too. Controlling Workplace Hazards (GC2) and the Practical Application (GC3) units are now common to both qualifications so you would only need to pass the Management of Health and Safety Unit (NGC1) to secure the NEBOSH National General Certificate.

Adrian Gannon, MSc, CMIOSH, MCIOB, AIEMA 

Currently based in Dubai, Adrian is an Irish National with significant international health and safety experience in oil and gas, construction and manufacturing. He is currently working for Xodus Group where he is working on a range of projects including FEED (Front End Engineering and Design), the development of downstream and upstream corporate standards, and risk assessment studies. 

 

Adrian has a Master of Science in Occupational Safety and Health obtained from Loughborough University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from the National University of Ireland Galway, in addition to a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the National University of Ireland, Galway. He has QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) and has significant training experience having worked 2 years for Al Mashreq, Bahrain in addition to Dubai, Singapore and England.  

 

Adrian has been involved in a wide range of projects including the construction stage of three power stations – CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) and CFB (Circulating Fluidised Bed) boilers. He has successfully integrated and maintained the full suite of QHSE management systems (ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001) and has developed audit and inspection proformas. Adrian has worked for NEBOSH as an examiner and is has considerable insight into written examining and marking systems. His professionalism is recognised by chartered membership of both IOSH (CMIOSH) and CIOB (MCIOB), and holds associate membership of IEMA (AIEMA).

 

NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety

In Cooperation with Al Mashreq Training

This new qualification is designed specifically for those with safety responsibilities in the oil and gas industry. It is the latest addition to our portfolio of globally-recognised health, safety, environmental and risk management qualifications.

 

The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore.

The Certificate also highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry.

 

What kind of people take the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety?

 

Those who have the responsibility for ensuring safety as part of their day to day duties, including:

  • Managers;
  • Supervisors;
  • Employee representatives;
  • Newly appointed Health and Safety Advisers.

 

Students should already have an underpinning knowledge of safety issues and may already have studied one of NEBOSH’s Certificate-level qualifications.

Element 1:  Health, safety and environmental management in context

Element 2:  Hydrocarbon process safety 1

Element 3:  Hydrocarbon process safety 2

Element 4:  Fire protection and emergency response

Element 5:  Logistics and Transport Operations

 

 

 

 

 

Assessment

 

The Unit is a taught unit assessed by one two-hour written examination.  The written examination consists of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All questions are compulsory.  Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
